TOPIC: “Review of Biden Administration Foreign & National Security”
Ambassador Llorens will discuss the Biden Administration’s record on foreign and national security policy at the one-year mark. He will review the new Administration’s approach on China, it’s efforts to strengthen ties with our major allies, and evaluate the successes or failures in managing core issues including securing the border, dealing with Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and Russia’s threat to Europe. He will also discuss President’s commitment to dealing with major global issues including climate change, the COVID pandemic, and the threat of terrorism. Finally, Ambassador Llorens will discuss Administration approach on promoting international trade, investment and global financial flows.
Currently, Amb. Llorens serves as the CEO of his own international consulting firm.
In 2016-2017, Ambassador Llorens served as Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Prior to his tenure in Afghanistan, Llorens was the principal officer in Sydney, Australia, the United States’ oldest diplomatic mission in the Asia Pacific region (established in 1836).
Ambassador Hugo Llorens was the Assistant Chief of Mission (an Ambassador level position) at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan from May 2012 to June a 2013.
