The international men’s club of America IMCA is pleased to announce an insightful luncheon event focusing on the captivating topic of “THE DUEL OF THE THEORIES ON GLOBAL WARMING”. Two nationally noted speakers, James Taylor J.D., president of The Heartland Institute and the founding director of Heartland’s Arthur B. Robinson Center for Climate and Environmental Policy and Professor Harold R. Wanless, professor in the Department of Geography and Sustainable Development at the University of Miami and previously served as Chair of the Department of Geological Sciences will present different views on this important and debated topic.
The luncheon will take place on April 22, 2024, from 10:30 to 2:00 PM at the Vineyards country club in Naples Florida. The IMCA is welcoming not only the members of the IMCA, but also interested citizens from all our southwest Florida communities, to engage in a constructive dialogue on one of the most pressing issues of our time.
The event will begin with Prof. Harold R. Wanless’s presentation “Global and Local Impact of our coming Sea Level Rise- Too fast and too soon” followed by the luncheon. Directly after the lunch, James Taylor J. D. will give his presentation, “Climate Realism vs Climate Crisis.” There will be time allotted after each presentation for questions.
In recent years, this discourse surrounding global warming has been marked by a clash of theories and perspectives. As scientific research continuously evolves, so too does, the debate on the causes, impact, and potential solution to climate change. This luncheon aims to delve into the heart of this debate, by providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the competing theories and of the implications for our planet’s future.
Attendees can expect a thought-provoking discussion led by the two distinguished speakers, who will present diverse viewpoints on the subject. From examining the role of human activity in driving climate change to exploring alternative theories that challenge
mainstream narratives, the event promises to be both informative and intellectually stimulating.
We Believe that open dialogue and informed debate are crucial in addressing the complex challenges posed by global warming. Our luncheon provides a platform where individuals of all backgrounds and understandings of global warming can come together to share their perspectives and contribute to the collective effort to combat climate change.
Please Join us for an inviting afternoon as we navigate the “DUEL OF THE THEORIES ON GLOBAL WARMING” and strive to uncover pathways to a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Global and Local Impact
Professor Harold R. Wanless, University of Miami
Harold R. Wanless is professor in the Department of Geography and Sustainable Development at the University of Miami. He previously served as Chair of the Department of Geological Sciences and Cooper Fellow in the College of Arts and Sciences. Since November 1971, he and his students have been studying the dynamics and evolution of tropical shallow marine and coastal environments of south Florida and the Bahamas. Especially important to this research has been documenting the influence of changing sea level and catastrophic events, such as hurricanes. They are now using this understanding to better predict the future of our coastal environments in the face of global warming and accelerating sea level rise.
Dr. Wanless is actively interacting with policy and legislative groups to guide necessary decisions. This has included speaking at the Everglades Coalition annual meeting and various Florida Legislative committees and the Federal Council for Environmental Quality.
B.A. Princeton University 1964 (Geology);
